Key Figures

Key figures are shown on Key Figures page and in the banner in top of pages Content, Summary, Resources and Insight.

For both types of key figures, Sigma has two general functions that can be used to display information from the calculation:

• Value – display the value of a given field of a component
• SumByFilter – display the value of a given field of a component, filtered by on a given set of criteria

Key figures page #

Add, Change or Delete Key figures #

1.	Open Key figures page
2.	Click Key figures button (Key figures ribbon)
		Key figure settings and template dialog box opens
3.	Mark a key figure row to select an entry point
4.	Choose between: click Insert to insert a new empty row above the selected entry point click Change… to edit (or add new) Text, Formula or Constant name (optional) click Delete to remove the row at the selected entry point
		Enter key figure #X sub dialog box opens (X being the key figure number)
5.	To change a key figure :
	5.1	Click in Text field and enter descriptive text for the key figure
	5.2	Click in Formula field to enter one of the following: Value command (see below) SumByFilter command (see below) #X (eg #1) to reference an above key figure commands and/or references combined by mathematical expressions eg: 2*( SumByFilter(Totalcost;Category=”Equipment”) + SumByFilter(Totalcost;Category=”Lease”) )
		NOTE Key figures apply to many mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, exponential function, square root etc.)
	5.3	and optionally click in Constant name to enter a name for a constant, which can be used in other places of the estimate
		WARNING Key figure constant value is ONLY updated when Key figures page is open
	5.4	Click OK to close Enter key figure #X sub dialog box (X being the key figure number)
		Repeat steps 3.-5. for each key figure to be inserted, changed or deleted
6.	Click OK to close Key figure settings and template dialog box

Key Figure functions #

Value #

Function: Value(field;position)

• field : (mandatory) column in Sigma (see table below)
• position : (optional) position of the component – if omitted, the currently selected component is used
  It is possible to use the Find function to specify the position

 

Examples #

Value(Quantity; 1.1.1) returns the quantity for the component in position 1.1.1

Value(SalePrice) returns the sale price for the selected component

Value(TotalCost; 0) returns total cost for the entire project

Value(TotalCM; Find (Warehouse)) returns the total coverage contribution for the component with the text Warehouse Building

SumByFilter #

Function: SumByFilter(field;filter;position;options)

• field : (mandatory) column in Sigma (see table below)
• filter : (mandatory) the fields to be used as filters for the function are specified as field=”value” eg Category=”salary”
  It is allowed to use * as an indication of optional characters
  It is possible to use several criteria – these should be indicated in angular brackets as follows [field1=”value1″; field2=”value2″;field3=”value3“] eg [Category=”salary”;Text=”workman*”;Operation=”mason”]
  The field name(s) to be used as a filter is selected from the list below:

   

  • • Number
    • Text
    • CF.Field ID (Custom Field Field ID, see Data > Custom Fields > ID column)
    • Operation (aka Activity)
    • Category
    • Unit
    • Note
    • Currency (Currency code)
    • ProductionUnit (Production Unit)

• position : (optional) position of the component. If omitted, the currently selected component is used. It is possible to use the Find function to specify the position
• options : (optional) specifies whether components of the alternative type and omitted components should be included.
  The options are specified as [option1;option2] – options are : 

   

  • IncludeAlternative : include Alternatives components  
  • IncludeDisabled : Include Disabled components 

 

Examples #

SumByFilter(Quantity; Text=”nails”) returns the total amount of nails below the current position

SumByFilter(SalesPrice; [Category=”Materials”; Operation=”Casting”];0) returns the selling price of materials with the activity casting for the entire project

SumByFilter(TotalCost; [Number=”1000″; VF.Account=”200*”];1.1;[IncludeDisabled]) returns total cost price for components where the number field contains 1000 and the custom field Account starts with 200, under position 1.1. Components marked as Disabled are included
