In the previous guide, Connecting Sigma to the sample model, the quantities from the sample model were imported and prices were assigned from the Cost data sample library. With the Autodesk integration you can store your Sigma estimate in your BIM 360 Docs account for retrieval and storage.
Saving your Sigma Estimate to BIM 360 Docs #
After completing your estimate, or at any time – the earlier the better – go to the Autodesk tab in Sigma and click on Save 5D Model. If BIM 360 needs to be authorized, proceed thru those steps again and click Allow, and close your browser. When you return to Sigma, the BIM 360 Docs window will be open and you can navigate to the folder in which you want to save the Sigma estimate. Select the folder and click OK and the upload will start. When finished you’ll get a notification that you file has been uploaded to Autodesk BIM 360.
During the upload, if it is a large file, you may see a notice that Sigma is not responding. This is a windows timing feature, and you will eventually get the notice that the file was uploaded.
Opening your Sigma Estimate from BIM 360 Docs #
Start Sigma and go to the Autodesk tab. Click on Open 5D Model, and if BIM 360 needs to be authorized, proceed thru those steps again and click Allow, and close your browser. When you return to Sigma, the BIM 360 Docs window will be open and you can navigate to the Sigma estimate you wish to open, click on it, and click OK and Sigma will open your estimate. Again, you may see the Not Responding notification – please ignore it. When the estimate opens, you’ll see a notification box telling you that the 5D Model has been fetched from BIM 360. Click OK, and work on your estimate.
Saving your Sigma estimate again #
To save your estimate back to BIM 360, click the Save 5D Model button again. To save it locally click File, then Save As, and navigate to the folder in which you would like to save it.
